(b) how we can use AI to understand the physiology and functions of the brain.
We study how neuromodulators such as dopamine, serotonin, norepinephrine, and acetylcholine interact, and how their dynamics can inspire more flexible and adaptive learning in artificial neural networks (ANNs). This research could lead to smarter, more resilient AI systems.
We are also collaborating with research laboratories around the world to bring together health and disease data from animals and humans to model how disease affects cognition and learning.
